“Life is unpredictable. We live in a world full of Twists and Turns. It is full of unexpected feelings of joy, happiness, sadness, and grief. If you can adjust yourself with the unpredictability of life, you can cope with the life cycle crisis. The goal is to strive for a healthier lifestyle and channel this unpredictable energy in a positive way and learn how to challenge and manage any situations that come your way. No matter what you try to achieve in your life, you are going to experience life twists and turns. The Twists in life are synonymous with Stress in life. Stress is an external force that has a negative impact on our everyday living. The Turns are like a roller coaster going around and around. There is no straight path to success. You must go through all the different phases of life before you reach a stage where you can call yourself successful.” (Pullman, Cool and Relaxed Life, 2018) According to an article from the Cleveland Clinic’s website, some common coping with stress strategies are: • Asking others to help or assist you • Taking responsibility for the situation • Engaging in problem solving • Maintaining emotionally supportive relationships • Maintaining emotional composure or, alternatively, expressing distressing emotions • Challenging previously held beliefs that are no longer adaptive • Directly attempting to change the source of stress • Distancing yourself from the source of stress Experts agree that coping is a process rather than an event. Thus, an individual may alternate between several of the above coping strategies in order to cope with a stressful event. (The Cleveland Clinic, 2015) No one can argue that the past several months have not been stressful in many ways. How we each react to the stress of the circumstances we have been encountering will go a long way toward helping us cope with the “new normal” that will inevitably result after the events of 2020 are resolved. We do not know what that “new normal” will be, but if we are continually aware of what is stressing us out and are constantly working on coping with that stress, we will survive the twists and turns coming in the future. As we celebrate World Teacher’s Day today, I thought the above quote was appropriate. Schools are opening around the world, some online, some in person, and some in hybrid situations. But, with the COVID-19 pandemic still going strong, the teachers are having to adjust to a variety of new ways to teach and interact with their students. Every day is an opportunity to have a fresh start. Human beings exude certain electric fields through intuitive perception. Everything we see, feel, and hear is the mirrored fact of our being. Our sensory experience brings awareness, energy, and power: the stuff of which all things are made. Our mind is derived from a spiritual power. Man doesn’t understand who he is, only that he is conscious and enclosed in a body, but humans are more than this. What we are is powerful and surreal and once we identify who we are our lives will change in amazing ways. (Pullman, I Want My Body Back, 2019) Understanding how humans think and grow is what a good teacher does. She or he will instill in their students the knowledge they need to become successful adults. Some of those traits are discussed in the second volume of the Uniqueness of You trilogy: Successful people:
In order to grab those opportunities, you must examine your beliefs and determine your readiness for the new opportunities out there. Beliefs determine what we will or won’t do. What we believe – the meaning we feel certain will come from situations – determines how we behave and what we will do. You are not ready for a thing until you believe you can acquire it. It is a new day, a new start. The beginning of a new life awaits you. Are you ready for your new start? Here are some tips to exploring your inner thought processes. We prompt insight and awareness in areas such as:
