Constant change and transition can be positive, uplifting, exciting, and sometimes sad. There will be transitions in your life you have no control over. We are in the midst of transitioning out of a global pandemic, and possibly transitioning into a global war. These kinds of large transitions are, for the most part, out of our control. While we cannot control the actual change, we can, however, control our reaction to the change. “Transitions are a time in which you have to reevaluate your priorities, friendships, time management, family relationships, and more and that can be very very hard. And even the most joyful of transitions often come with a sense of some sort of loss.” (Life Transitions, 2019) With that in mind, think about the changes you have faced, perhaps moving to a new town, getting married, having a baby. All of these things seem to be happy, positive transitions. But the downside of these changes can sneak up on you and cause problems if you’re not aware of them and prepared for them. “Change forces growth.” (McCombs, 2020) Before you create or make some changes with your life, you need to get on the path of understanding self. You the power to design your life, the way a building or a car is designed. You also have the power to run your life, the way you want, and if the need arises, you can change and modify your life. The most important thing here is, with all the process of designing, running, and modifying your life is, you still hold the power to stay or change course with the ever-changing process to create and design a new you. You get into the process, when the need arises, otherwise, allow the process to continue without any interference. As the process of change continues, that doesn’t mean you don’t get into it. With too much indulgence, you can get caught up in life. Then you lose focus and don’t run your life, but life takes over you, and you lose control over your life. When you don’t have any control over your life, the pathway toward change becomes a distraction and delay the process of any positive change. The reality is, only you can design your life, if you can detach yourself, from it. With attachment, you must follow what your mind wants you to do. You don’t remain the creator, but life forces you to do things in a different way. Most people find life a drag. They don’t even run their lives, but allow fear and negative thinking to take control. This is the only reason why change is hard for people. They cannot even imagine how to bring a little change in their life. Even if they do so, they go back to their same old routine. Look at your life, and ask yourself, do you have any control over your life? If you have control, only then can you create something fresh out it. The past several weeks have been trying, especially for those living in Eastern Europe. As the calendar takes us closer to the Spring Equinox (March 20 this year) thoughts tend to go to ways to celebrate new beginnings. One way to do this is to meditate, according to the Rhythms of Play website. (Regan, 2022) Meditating is also something I recommend in my book, Your Unique Style of Fit. On page 9 in the book, I list several reasons to learn creativity. One of those ways is this: Men and Women who desire a better world explore their creativity through meditation, imagination, and the power of story. (Pullman A. , Acquiescence of Freestyle of Thinking, 2019) While meditating, think about what changes you want to make. Of course, you cannot change the world order – or stop the war in the Ukraine, but what are some things you can do here in your own life that will help you cope with the circumstances we are facing? Of course, donating is always the first thing people think of, but donating is not always possible. So, what can you do? The feelings of despair, helplessness, and fear are real, even far away from the war. But, your thought processes can either drag you down, or pull you up. In other words, don’t just sit and wait for someone else to make you feel better, take it upon yourself to bring your mind closer to peace. “Spring is the season during which the natural world revives and reinvigorates after the colder winter months.” (Redd, 2022) Winter is ending, and Spring is on the way.
